Meet Appleton West's Callista Siamof, the Feb. 26-29 Fox Cities Student of the Week

In this week's Student of the Week poll, we asked readers to vote between two students, from Appleton West High School and Menasha High School.

Of the two seniors who were nominated last week, here's who won Student of the Week for this week.

Callista Siamof is our Student of the Week for Feb. 26-29, taking 54% of 1,582 votes in our weekly poll.

Not only is Siamof graduating with a 4.0 after Appleton West's "arduous classes," said administrative assistant Morgan Still, but she also showed leadership in music during her time at the school.

With skills in voice and trumpet, Siamof has participated in the Lawrence University Youth Wind Ensemble, Fox Valley Youth Orchestra, Vento Winds' concerto concert, in state solo and ensemble competitions and represented AASD in the State Honors Orchestra. She also plays in Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band at Appleton West.

And, when Siamof suspected too few students had signed up for music theory, Still said she advocated for music at her school, enabling the course to be held.

After high school, Siamof plans to pursue classical trumpet performance and eventually be a music professor. In the meantime, she also participates in Mock Trial and the National Honor Society and runs on the cross country and track team, Still said.

About Student of the Week

This contest will run every week. Polls will open Mondays and close at noon Thursdays, with one vote allowed per person per day. Students from public and private high schools in the Fox Cities are eligible to participate.
