Matcha mouthwash helps fight periodontitis

Matcha is all the rage for tea, but mouthwash? Matcha mouthwash inhibits bacteria that can cause gum disease according to a scientific study.

Periodontitis not only impacts the mouth, leading to gum and tooth decay, but the bacteria can also build up orally and travel to other parts of the body, causing heart problems.

In a new study presented to the American Society for Microbiology, scientists found that matcha extract, made from green tea, stops the growth of pathogens. Their matcha mouthwash reduced populations of the disease-causing bacteria gingivalis in saliva.

Race and age impact false positives in mammograms interpreted by A.I.

Artificial Intelligence has proven to have many benefits in the medical field, but new research shows A.I. discriminates in mammography.

In a study of nearly 5,000 screening mammograms interpreted by an FDA-approved A.I. algorithm, race and age influenced false positive results.

The Journal of the Radiological Society of North America reports on the deficit for a tool radiologists have embraced to improve their efficiency and accuracy in invading mammograms.

Few demographically diverse databases for A.I. training limit its ability.

False positive mammogram results were significantly more likely in Black and older patients.

Combating loneliness

Shopping therapy can reduce loneliness but it all depends on what you spend your money on.

To combat loneliness, purchase experiences not things.

Spending on socially engaging experiences boosts connections and feelings of belonging.

Health experts say loneliness is a national epidemic that leads to health consequences equivalent to smoking and obesity.
