Details: "We will not let events develop according to a scenario in which nuclear weapons end up in the hands of bandits – however much the criminals who have lost their minds want this," Medvedev said.

He added that the armed insurrection was a well-thought-out and planned operation whose goal is to seize power in Russia. Medvedev said that "speculations" regarding Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin’s past grievances, the Russian Defence Ministry’s failure to fulfil its obligations, corrupt officials, and attacks on Wagner Group’s rear camps were lies.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released an official statement warning Western countries against using Russia’s domestic political situation in their interests.

"We warn Western countries against any hints at possibly using the domestic situation in Russia for their own Russophobic ends. Any such attempts have no prospects and will not be welcome in either Russia or among rational political forces abroad," the statement reads.

The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that the "attempted armed rebellion that took place in our country has met with powerful resistance in Russian society" and "plays into the hands of Russia’s enemies".

The statement goes on to say that "the situation will be resolved in the very near future in accordance with the centuries-old wisdom of the Russian people and the Russian state".

"All the goals and objectives of the special military operation will be achieved," the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed.
