Medifast CFO Brendan Connors to resign

OWINGS MILL, Md. (AP) — Medifast Inc. said Tuesday that Brendan Connors, its chief financial officer, is resigning immediately to pursue other interests after seven years at the weight-loss company.

The company has named Edward J. Powers as interim chief financial officer. Powers joined Medifast as senior controller in 2011 and previously worked as global controller of the construction group at Stanley Black & Decker Inc.

Medifast has hired an executive recruiting firm to conduct a search for a new chief financial officer.

Shares of the company, based in Owings Mill, Md., fell 28 cents to close at $29.59.
