What is Medicare fraud and how can you avoid it?

You’ve likely heard the term Medicare fraud but do you know how it happens?

This is Medicare Fraud Prevention Week and we want to share one woman’s story which symbolized the estimated $100 billion it costs taxpayers every year.

Travis Trumitch is with Age Options, which is an Illinois non-profit that works with older adults and people with disabilities. Linda Hennis is a retired nurse and victim of Medicare fraud.

The two joined WGN Evening News to talk about Linda’s story and share tips and advice.

If you’d like to attend the Fraud Fair Shred Event, it is happening on Thursday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Northeast Levy Regional Senior Center at 2019 W. Lawrence Avenue.
