Meads Quarry and surrounding trail at Ijams closed because of a 'significant landslide'

Meads Quarry and the popular Tharp Trace Trail are closed at Ijams Nature Center because of a "significant landslide."

On May 25, a rockslide took out part of the large wall on the back side of the quarry. The trail goes around the quarry and up on top of the rock wall, and Ijams said geologists will access its stability.

There is no set reopening date, and Ijams asked visitors to respect signs the closures.

Meads Quarry was a working marble quarry for decades, but it was restored into a recreational area for swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding.
