MCSO arrests man after he allegedly sold drugs near two local schools

MUSCOGEE COUNTY, Ga. (WRBL) – The Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office said a man was arrested in South Columbus on Wednesday after he allegedly sold narcotics within a thousand feet of two schools.

MCSO deputies found Jamal Jones in possession of 51 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of $5,100, 46 grams of marijuana with a street value of $460 and 9 hydrocodone pills worth $90. Authorities also recovered two firearms with one gun being reported stolen and $2,591 in cash.

Jones was arrested, taken to the Muscogee County Jail and charged with:

  • Trafficking cocaine

  • Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute

  • Two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime

  • Two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

  • Two counts of controlled substances within 1000 feet of a school

  • Theft by receiving stolen property (firearm)

  • Two counts of possession of drug-related objects

  • Possession of a schedule II substance (hydrocodone)
