A McDonalds customer faces a robbery charge after he allegedly emptied his cup of water and filled it with soda.

The manager of the restaurant in Springdale, Arkansas, says that 18-year-old Cody Morris was one of three people who asked for water at the drive-thru window - before entering the store and filling the cups with soda.

But the trio were spotted by the manager, who immediately asked them to return the drinks.

Two of the group co-operated with the request, but Morris refused and left the restaurant.

The manager then ran out of the store and tried to block Morris’ car from leaving - but Morris then allegedly drove his car in reverse and hit the worker twice before speeding away.

Morris was arrested by police after his car was recovered at a nearby bowling alley - but it’s not clear if he’ll face additional charges for ploughing his car into the manager.

Springdale Police say that the theft became a robbery when ‘The alleged suspect allegedly used force to resist apprehension by the store employees.’

At present, Morris is facing one charge of felony robbery, which carries a sentence of up to six years in jail, and/or a fine of up to $10,000.
