McDonald Co. towns to enhance accessibility with sidewalk improvements

MCDONALD COUNTY, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced significant sidewalk improvements across four towns in McDonald County, set to begin the week of May 6.

This infrastructure is aimed to meet the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, ensuring safer and more accessible pedestrian pathways.

Locations for improvements:

  • Missouri Route 59 (Marshall Street) at Main Street in Anderson

  • Missouri Route 90 (Cliffside Street) between Gratz Steet and Sulphur Street in Noel

  • Missouri Route 43 (Main Street) between Route PP and Comanche Street in Southwest City

  • McDonald County Route W (Main Street) between 5th and 8th Streets in Pineville

MoDOT says contractors will be conducting work between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and that drivers can expect temporary lane closures. Flaggers and signage will be present to direct commuters through the work zone.

MoDOT says this project includes the construction of new curb ramps, landings, crosswalks, pedestrian signage, handrails, and pavement markings.
