McConnell: White House purposely ‘designed’ Obama jobs bill to ‘fail’ [VIDEO]
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said on the Senate floor Tuesday that the White House intentionally “designed” President Barack Obama’s $447 billion jobs bill to “fail” with the hopes of making Republicans appear “intransigent.”
“This was not — I repeat — not a serious effort to do something about jobs and the economy,” McConnell said. “It was a serious effort to help the president’s re-election campaign by making Republicans in Congress look intransigent”
Watch:
Obama’s jobs bill was not put to a vote in the GOP-controlled House but was defeated in the Democrat-controlled Senate. A part of the jobs bill that included $35 billion in federal funding for states to hire public safety workers and teachers also failed in the Senate.
