Scott Jablow was elected as Sedona's mayor in 2022 after serving two years as the city's vice mayor. He will be up for reelection in 2024.

Jablow earned more than 56% of votes on Election Day in the mayoral race, ultimately defeating political newcomer Samaire Armstrong at a time when more residents participated in the vote.

A record number of ballots were cast in Sedona's mayoral race in 2022: 5,730 total votes across both Yavapai and Coconino counties. This turnout was a 46% increase from the turnout in the August 2020 mayoral election and a 187% increase from votes cast in August 2016.

Importantly, Sedona operates under a council-manager form of government wherein an elected city council, including the mayor, develops policy positions and then directs the city manager to carry out their decisions. As such, the mayor has a single vote that carries the same weight as the rest of the council.

Jablow and his wife retired to Sedona in 2010 after the conclusion of his 30-year career as a police officer for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and he has been serving the community in some capacity for the past decade.

After first being appointed to the city planning and zoning commission in 2011, Jablow then served on the fire district governing board before being elected to the City Council in 2014.

"I've always been one to get involved with my community, to know my neighbors in my neighborhood and expand out from there," Jablow told The Arizona Republic.
