Mayfield, Organ Mountain girls eliminated from playoffs
ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – The Mayfield and Organ Mountain High School girls basketball teams were bounced out of the New Mexico high school basketball playoffs after losses in the Class 5A quarterfinals round on Tuesday.
No. 5 Mayfield was edged out by No. 3 Volcano Vista 35-31 at the University of New Mexico’s The Pit.

The Trojans end its season with a 23-6 record.
Later in the day, No. 6 Organ Mountain suffered a 65-31 loss to No. 3 Farmington at The Pit.

WHO IS STILL IN THE HUNT FOR A STATE TITLE?
The Organ Mountain boys are the only Las-Cruces area high school basketball team still alive in the playoffs. Organ Mountain will take on Los Lunas in the Class 5A boys quarterfinals on Wednesday. Tipoff at The Pit is scheduled for 4:45 p.m. MT.
