May Auto Sales: Ford

DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) -- Ford Motor Co. said Monday that is May U.S. sales rose 14 percent, led by strong sales of the F-Series pickup truck and the redesigned Ford Escape small SUV.

BY THE NUMBERS: The Dearborn, Mich., automaker said it sold 246,585 cars and trucks last month, up from 216,267 a year earlier.

TOP SELLERS: F-Series pickup truck sales rose 31 percent to 71,604. Escape sales were up 26 percent to 29,123.

HOT MODELS: The Ford Edge crossover SUV with sales up 15 percent to 13,501. Explorer large SUV sales also rose 15 percent to 16,861. Focus compact sales were up almost 10 percent to 27,186.
