Maurice Sendak Does Not Care for Newt; Wilco Gets Animated

We realize there's only so much time one can spend in a day watching new trailers, viral video clips, and shaky cell phone footage of people arguing on live television. This is why every day The Atlantic Wire highlights the videos that truly earn your fiveminutes (or less) of attention. Today: Maurice Sendak had some things to say about Newt Gingrich on The Colbert Report, Wilco channels Popeye, and Indianapolis has put up the midwest's coolest zip line for the Super Bowl.

Wilco has commissioned a new, hand-drawn Popeye cartoon to serve as the video to their new song "Dawned on Me." Cool idea, Jeff Tweedy! And we never even liked the original Popeye cartoons. They were never funny enough.  [Wilco]

Where the Wild Things Are author Maurice Sendak called Newt Gingrich "gross and vile" during an interview with Stephen Colbert. It should be noted that Sendak's been mouthing off about famous people he does not like an awful lot recently, but it's still going to hurt the candidate with the land of Wild Things voters. They're putting up a lovely outdoor zip line in downtown Indianapolis as part of the city's Super Bowl celebration. We hope everyone who writes a column grousing about the game not being in Miami or New Orleans over the next 10 days remembers, and maybe takes a ride on it before filing. Because that looks incredibly fun, with just the right amount of danger mixed in.  [WISHTV-8]
