Matthew McConaughey Gives Students a Safe Ride Home at University of Texas

Matthew McConaughey wants to make sure students get home all right, all right, all right.

The Oscar-winning actor, 47, stopped by his alma mater, the University of Texas, on Monday to help students travel home safely from campus late at night. McConaughey lent a helping hand to the school’s safe-ride program, SURE Walk.

The actor drove around campus in a golf cart to pick up students and give them a ride.

“Longhorns take care of each other, and it’s ‘safe’ to say Matthew McConaughey agrees,” the student government’s Facebook page read. “Don’t forget to use SURE Walk when traveling home late at night; you never know who might pick you up! #BeSafe #SafeChats.”

In one photo snapped from his time on campus, McConaughey is seen smiling alongside four fellow Longhorns.

McConaughey graduated from the University of Texas in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in radio, television and film. The actor has remained a dedicated alumnus, attending countless football games and events on campus.

He even returned to the classroom to teach filmmaking classes in the school’s Communication department.
