Matteson man dies after being hit by van in Olympia Fields
A Matteson man died Monday after being hit by a van on Western Avenue near Route 30 in Olympia Fields.
Police identified the man as Barry L. Morgan, of Matteson. He died of multiple blunt force injuries, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
An Olympia Fields police officer was flagged down at 8:18 p.m. near the Walmart at 21000 Western Ave., and asked to provide emergency assistance. The officer called in for backup, police said.
Officers found Morgan unresponsive, and paramedics arrived at the scene at 8:23 p.m. He was taken to Franciscan Health in Olympia Fields where he was pronounced dead at 9:30 p.m., police said.
