Matt Lauer reportedly 'doesn't want a divorce' from wife Annette Roque

Matt Lauer isn't giving up on his marriage.

The ousted "Today" anchor is reportedly "fighting to save [his] marriage" to Annette Roque, to whom he's been married for 19 years. The couple, who is still living together in the Hamptons, shares three children -- Jack, 16, Romy, 14, and Thijs, 11.

Matt "is fighting to save the marriage," a source told People. "He doesn't want a divorce. Both of them, their first thought is their children."

Both Roque and Lauer have stopped wearing their wedding rings amid the continuing turmoil following his shocking firing from NBC News after a "detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior" two weeks ago. Another source told the outlet that Roque is "angry" and "wanted him to take his ring off."

"The kids are noticing this, but they're being very open about this and explaining everything," the second source added.

The new claims come a week after Roque's father, Henri, spoke out about Lauer's firing for alleged sexual misconduct and its effect on his family.

"I have no words for her husband," Henri said. "What he has done is bad. She is not going to stay with him and work it out. They are not together trying to work it out. [...] She is feeling shocked and she is now having sorrow for her children. Me too. Everybody is feeling quite sad. There are also the kids, I don't know what she's doing or who they are going to stay with."

Additionally, of the rumors that Lauer was unfaithful to his wife throughout their almost two-decades-long marriage, sources said that Annette was worried about his infidelity even before they got married.

"He was a player when she met him and she knew that," a source told People. "Even many years ago, he was a flirt, a philanderer. He did his thing."

He "was essentially a single guy," another colleague said.

In the two weeks since Lauer was suddenly terminated from the "Today" show, a handful of women have come forward with further complaints about Lauer's alleged inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace over the years. Both The New York Times and Variety published reports in the days following his firing citing unnamed women who had experienced unwanted sexual advances from the television personality.

And as the professional and personal fallout continues in Lauer's life, he reportedly has "no intention" of returning to television.

"Matt has no intention of returning to public life," a source told Page Six. "He plans to disappear and play golf. He wants to be a regular joe. To play golf and stay in the Hamptons. He has no intention of mounting a Billy Bush-style comeback campaign. He is going to stick to his one statement and not address the allegations further."
