Even as a federal investigation into sex-trafficking allegations looms over him, Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida is set to headline a pro-Trump conservative women's gala held at a Trump-owned Florida golf resort this week.

The Save America Summit, organized by the Women for America First group, is set to be held at the Trump National Doral Miami. Gaetz is expected to be one of the event's keynote speakers.

"Rep Matt Gaetz has been a fearless leader in DC. Few members of Congress have been more willing than Matt to stand up & fight on behalf of President Trump & his America First Agenda," tweeted the Women for America First group. "We are honored to have @RepMattGaetz speak at the #SaveAmericaSummit!"

Insider has contacted Gaetz and the Women for America First organization for comment.

According to the group's website, the "exclusive" weekend will cost a "fantastic" rate of $199 a night to attend. The gala dinner where Gaetz is set to speak has the theme of Americana, featuring "BBQ, Boots & Bluegrass."

This is poised to be Gaetz's first public appearance since news broke of the Department of Justice investigation.

His expected attendance at the event also indicates that the Florida lawmaker, who was both a vocal supporter of Donald Trump during Trump's presidency as well as one of Trump's favorite members of Congress, is still very much aligned with the Trump cause, despite the former president's remaining silent on the federal investigation.

The Justice Department is specifically investigating whether he paid for a 17-year-old girl to travel and have sex with him. Gaetz has denied the allegations against him, dismissing them as being part of a smear campaign that he says tried to extort millions of dollars from his family.

On Monday, Gaetz wrote an op-ed article saying he was "absolutely not resigning" from Congress.

"Washington scandal cycles are predictable, and sex is especially potent in politics. Let me first remind everyone that I am a representative in Congress, not a monk, and certainly not a criminal," Gaetz wrote in the Washington Examiner.

It came to light on Tuesday, however, that Gaetz asked Trump for a preemptive, blanket pardon before the former president left office in January. It is unclear whether Trump or Gaetz knew a federal investigation into Gaetz had begun at the time.
