Massive fire breaks out at former York County factory

STEWARTSTOWN BOROUGH, Pa. (WHTM) -A large structure fire broke out overnight at the old furniture factory on Mill Road in Stewartstown Borough.

Officials say the call came in around 2 a.m. and the Chief of the Eureka Fire Department says this is the largest fire in their history.

Dallastown area firefighters were on standby in a nearby neighborhood to ensure no hot embers were blown onto homes.

The chief says they have done their best to get off of the borough water system but residents still may have discolored water for a period of time.

Currently, Southern Regional Police (SRPD), along with the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshall’s Office are investigating the matter. SRPD is asking anyone in Stewartstown with cameras to check for suspicious activity between 1:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m.

Anyone with information is asked to call Southern Regional Police at 717-235-3944.
