Massive fire breaks out at California recycling center

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Firefighters in San Joaquin County are fighting a recycling center fire near an elementary school, according to NBC affiliate KCRA.

The station said five acres of wooden pallets at the GMA Pallet Recycling Corporation in San Joaquin County are believed to be fueling the fire.

Officials told KCRA at least two-thirds of the yard is actively on fire and officials are having to shuttle in water, making it hard to control the blaze.

Police have reportedly evacuated at least six homes near the fire.

It is unknown how the fire started and no injuries have been reported at this time.
