Massive Explosion Rocks Baghuz as Kurdish Forces Make Push on IS Enclave

Fierce fighting around Baghuz, the last town in Syria controlled by the Islamic State (IS), took place on Saturday, March 2, and Sunday, March 3, as the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) launched their final offensive on the area.

Mustafa Bali, a spokesman for the SDF, said in the early hours of Monday morning, March 4, that the offensive had to be slowed as some civilians still remained in the area.
