The body of a married second grade teacher was found in her Boston-area home Sunday as police investigate her death, PEOPLE confirms.
Police and emergency medical personnel who responded to a 911 call at about 3:30 p.m. call found Vanessa MacCormack, 30, a mother of a young daughter, unresponsive in her Revere, Massachusetts, home, according to a statement from the Revere Police Department.
A preliminary examination revealed signs of trauma to her body, say police, who did not elaborate. No arrests have been made.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of her death, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office says in a statement.
“While the facts and circumstances do not immediately suggest a random incident, authorities said the investigation is still in its early stages,” the statement says.
MacCormack’s husband, Andrew, was spotted at the residence on Sunday retrieving a baby chair before breaking down and crying, local news station WBZ reports.
MacCormack’s sister Angela Masucci remembered her as a devoted mother.
“Words could never describe my sister,” she said according to CBS News reports. “My sister was the world’s best mother, she did everything for her daughter and had so many plans for her. She never missed an opportunity to bring her places to show off her beautiful baby,” Masucci said.

Masucci added, “She is the true definition of a family oriented person,” the outlet reports. “She always held get-togethers at her beautiful home that she designed to be like a home on HGTV, and always strived to get the family together.”
MacCormack was beloved as a teacher, Dr. Mary Dill, Principal of William P. Connery Elementary School, said in a statement.
“Our school community is heartbroken,” she said in the statement. “Vanessa was loved by students, parents, and colleagues. She was involved in every aspect of the school and a great friend to everyone on the staff. She will be dearly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family,”
