Mason's Ryne Todd named MVP of District 14-2A Division I football
Mason High School sophomore running back Ryne Todd was the unanimous most valuable player as the District 14-2A Division I all-district football team was announced Wednesday.
Todd helped lead Mason to a 5-0 district record and its 11th consecutive district championship.
Joining Todd as a superlative pick for the Punchers were Jaden Scantlin, Will Ince, Milam Mayfield and Hunter Goodwin. Head coach Michael McLeod was the coach of the year.
Scantlin, a senior linebacker, was the defensive MVP. Ince and Mayfield, both seniors, shared lineman of the year honors while Goodwin, a junior tight end/defensive end, was co-newcomer of the year.
Ozona, which finished third in district play, had two superlative selections. Senior running back Matthew DeLaGarza was the co-offensive MVP while senior wide receiver/defensive back Lane Smith was co-utility player of the year.
