Mason County resident under investigation for animal cruelty, sheriff’s office says

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office has launched an animal cruelty investigation involving about 60 animals, most of them dogs, the department has announced.

“Two of the dogs are in critical condition and are receiving immediate attention. Other animals are in need of medical service,” the department’s social media post reads.

The situation is on property in the Grapeview area, department officials said. Grapeview is between Shelton and Allyn on Case Inlet.

“We are working with outside agencies, including the Humane Society, to ensure these animals receive the care they need,” the post reads. “We are also reaching out to other agencies for additional help”

The Sheriff’s Office says they developed probable cause to book a woman into jail about 9:55 a.m. Sunday, according to Mason County jail information.
