Marysville man charged with allegedly murdering 4-month-old daughter

A 26-year-old Marysville man was charged with allegedly murdering his 4-month-old daughter.

Sunday night, police said they arrived in the 900 Block of Columbia Avenue after reports that a 4-month-old girl was not breathing. Firefighters arrived soon after but were unable to save the girl’s life.

Police then arrested the baby’s parents Bailey Bugler and Krystal Borland.

Police said that two other children were taken into protective custody with the Department of Children, Youth, and Families.

On Monday, we went to the Snohomish County Courthouse where Bailey Bulger made his first court appearance.

The judge found probable cause for murder in the second degree and homicide by abuse.

Prosecutors petitioned the judge not to find probable cause for Borland and to release her.

“Homicide by abuse and second-degree murder within these frameworks require a substantial amount of showings that we just do not have at this point in time,” said the prosecutor.

The judge agreed and Borland was ordered to be released.

Court documents say Bugler told police he held his daughter’s face against the bed for about two minutes to get her to stop crying. Bugler told officers he and Borland watched TV for an hour before they realized the baby was dead.

“They should go to prison for that, for killing that baby, I think they should go to prison both of them,” said neighbor Alexia Stamatlu.

Neighbors at the Marysville apartment complex are still on edge.

“That’s not okay you don’t abuse a child, you don’t kill somebody on my floor and scare me to death and my neighbors too,” said Stamatlu.

“I was talking to a few people out here last night and they’re pretty shaken up,” said neighbor Kevin Ahre.

The judge set Bugler’s bail at $25,000 and ordered him not to discuss the case with Borland or any other witnesses. She also ordered that he not be allowed to be around any children.
