Maryland weather: Worst rain and thunder of the week could come Thursday

May 8—Possible heavy thunderstorms and wind gusts are predicted in the Baltimore area Thursday after the week's milder weather.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for central Maryland throughout Thursday for severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts and large hail. Initially, the advisory included Wednesday night, but there wasn't any rain.

Thursday afternoon is expected to have temperatures in the low 70s and a 50% chance of rain. The likelihood of precipitation will go up to 60% around 9 p.m. as temperatures drop into the mid-50s.

The NWS does not expect hazardous weather Friday through Wednesday, according to the advisory.

Friday is predicted to be cloudy with a 60% chance of rain as temperatures stay below 70 in the afternoon. Friday night's forecast is for cloudy but dry conditions as temperatures drop into the 40s.

Saturday afternoon is expected to have temperatures in the high 60s with a 50% chance of rain after 2 p.m., rising to 60% at night.

Slight chances of thunderstorms are expected Sunday between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
