Maryland weather: Thunder and rain before sunny weekend

Thunder and rain are in the forecast around Baltimore this week ahead of a clear and sunny weekend.

Monday night into Tuesday morning there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms. A 100% chance of rain sets in Tuesday afternoon, when three-quarters of an inch of rain could fall with temperatures in the 50s.

A few severe thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts and large hail are possible both Tuesday and Wednesday around the Chesapeake Bay as well as Central Maryland along Interstate 95, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain is expected to continue Wednesday.

Showers and possible thunderstorms are forecast Wednesday morning, afternoon and night with afternoon high temperatures in the 60s and nighttime lows in the 40s. Thursday is expected to have a 50% chance of rain all day and night before partly sunny skies return Friday. Saturday and Sunday are also expected to be clear and sunny.
