ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – No Buffalo Bills coach has more significance to the franchise than the great Marv Levy.

With Super Bowl week starting in Las Vegas, Levy took a few moments to discuss the importance of the game itself. Levy, who’s now 98, still has plenty of sharp knowledge and football wisdom for all fans. Best known for his leading role as head coach of the Buffalo Bills amid the team’s four consecutive Super Bowl appearances in the 1990’s, Levy first started his NFL coaching career in Kansas City for the Chiefs.

Levy coached the Chiefs from 1978-1982 and eventually landed with the Bills in 1986. Marv went on to become a proud inductee of the Pro Football Hall of Fame where he is currently the oldest living member.

Although the Bills have yet to win a Super Bowl, Levy says the future is bright to think about with all eyes on this week’s huge game with many Buffalo fans believing they belong.

“It’s the culmination of a long-hard season,” Levy said on getting to the Super Bowl. “Buffalo fans are truly unique. And, someday they will be awarded with that Super Bowl Championship and that would be rewarding for us all.”

As Levy’s former team the Chiefs battle the 49ers Sunday night in Super Bowl 58, Marv tells us the ultimate-winning pick with the help of his wife Fran.

“I’m rooting for the 49ers,” Fran Levy said over the phone. “She’s more of fan than I am,” Marv responded.

“No, no. If someone fires my husband (Kansas City), I don’t root for them. No way, no how,” Fran added.

Even though the Bills aren’t playing in Super Bowl Sunday, the Levy’s still have a vested interest in the game’s biggest event of the year. A game that will put an exclamation point on top of the season and give Marv another opportunity to remember the great times in Buffalo.
