Martinsville man killed in Howard County crash

A Martinsville man was killed in a crash near Kokomo after the vehicle he was traveling in was hit by another Sunday afternoon, according to a press release by the Howard County Sheriff's Office.

According to the release, James Hayden, 60 of Martinsville, was a passenger in a vehicle traveling along southbound U.S. Highway 31.

Another vehicle, driven by 21-year-old Kyra Potts of Fort Wayne, was traveling on northbound U.S. Highway 31 when her vehicle left the roadway and crossed the median.

Her vehicle then entered into the southbound lanes, where it collided with the vehicle Hayden was a passenger, a 2014 Chevrolet.

According to the release, Hayden was "unrestrained" and sitting in the front passenger seat of the 2014 Chevrolet.

Potts was giving a breath test on the scene which showed a result of 0.024.

"In accordance with Indiana Law, a blood draw was performed on (Potts) and the toxicology results are pending," Howard County Sheriff's Office said in its release.
