Martin Freeman's Character In Captain America: Civil War Revealed

From paper sales at Wernham Hogg to the Joint Counter Terrorist Centre, Martin Freeman has indeed made something of an ‘unexpected journey’ (see what we did there?).

Courtesy of Empire, the Brit actor’s role in 'Captain America: Civil War’ has been revealed – he’s playing a chap called Everett Ross.

Ross is known around the Marvel Comics Universe, and is pictured here with Sharon Carter (played by Emily VanCamp) reprising her role as S.H.I.E.L.D’s Agent 13.

Generally, Ross’s character is the US government’s Oxford-educated attache in Wakanda, the fictional African nation presided over by the Black Panther.

So likelihood is that he’ll be appearing in a more expanded capacity that forthcoming stand-alone movie too, with Chadwick Boseman playing the African superhero.

But first up, it seems he’ll be in some way embroiled in the superhero conflict of 'Civil War’.

Interestingly, according to his co-creator Christopher Priest, Everett’s character was initially based on Chandler Bing, Matthew Perry’s persistently sarcastic character from 'Friends’.

In 'Civil War’, he’s part of the Joint Counter Terrorist Centre, now filling the smoking void left by Nick Fury’s S.H.I.E.L.D.

Meanwhile, judging by the combat chaps in the background, Chris Evans’ Captain America journey may involve Germany in some way. Not a country the World War II veteran has always had the best relationship with.

Also starring Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark, Scarlett Johnasson’s Black Widow, Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier, Boseman as Black Panther, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, and Tom Holland’s debut as Spider-man, the hero-heavy movie lands on May 6.

Oddly, Freeman’s ‘Office’ co-star Lucy Davis was snapped over the weekend making Marvel rival ‘Wonder Woman’ for DC. You can check out the pictures here…
