Anthony Martial has postponed his Manchester United contract talks until Jose Mourinho’s future is sorted.

The 22-year-old attacker fell out with the Old Trafford manager in the summer after he left United’s pre-season tour for the birth of his son. He was then fined more than £100,000 for not returning to the club’s tour.

Martial has subsequently only appeared once this season, lasting an hour in the 3-2 defeat at Brighton last month.

The winger had been in talks to extend his stay since the end of last season, but The Sun report he is unwilling to commit while still out of favour.

While Mourinho would be happy to see the Frenchman leave, United’s hierarchy is keen to keep Martial, who joined three years ago from Monaco in a deal that could cost £57.6million.

He currently has one year left on his original deal, with the club holding an option for another year.

United will almost certainly trigger his extra year but his value would fall without a fresh contract agreed.
