Marshall man sentenced to 25 years in prison for murder

HARRISON COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – A Marshall man was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Wednesday in the 2021 shooting death of a 50-year-old man.

Jakeous Jamal Johnson, 26, was arrested on June 17, 2021 after the Marshall Police Department responded to shooting near a apartment complex on Veterans Avenue.

Police said Cedric Eugene King, 50 of Marshall, was found unresponsive and declared dead by a Justice of the Peace.

According to records, Johnson pleaded guilty to first-degree murder on Wednesday and was sentenced later that same day.
