Three days after adding one veteran to the roster in DeMarcus Cousins, the Milwaukee Bucks added a second in free agent guard Wesley Matthews.

The team made the move official Friday evening.

The Marquette University alumnus started 67 regular-season games and appeared in 10 playoff games for the Bucks in 2019-20 when he averaged 7.4 points per game and shot 36.4% from behind the three-point line.

The 35-year-old guard, who played high school ball at James Madison (now Vel Phillips) Memorial High School in Madison, played in 58 games (10 starts) for the Los Angeles Lakers last season and played in six playoff games. He averaged 4.8 points on 35.3% shooting in 19.5 minutes per game for the Lakers.

Since entering the league in 2009-10, Matthews has played for seven teams and has averaged 12.6 points per game.

To make room for Matthews on the roster, the Bucks waived second-round draft pick Georgios Kalaitzakis.

The Athletic was the first to report the roster moves.

Kalaitzakis was with the team in Toronto on Thursday and had played in nine games for the Bucks. He was acquired in a draft-day trade after Indiana selected him No. 60 overall out of Greece.

Matthews would provide some additional depth in the back court for the Bucks behind starters Jrue Holiday and Grayson Allen. Backup point guard George Hill, also 35 years old, has been averaging over 27 minutes per game. Pat Connaughton (28 minutes per game) has also been logging heavy minutes early in the season.
