NEW YORK (PIX11) – The world is marking four years since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic on Monday.

The Humanitarian Disaster Institute named March 11 as National COVID-19 Day back in 2021. It marks the day the World Health Organization designated coronavirus a pandemic in 2020.

The organization said COVID-19 has claimed more than 7 million lives globally. The day is now used to remember and reflect.
