Marin County resident detains burglar, one suspect still at large

(KRON) — The Marin County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a subject at large related to a residential burglary in Marin County. After the homeowner detained one of the two burglars of their private residence, another burglar’s location remains unknown as of this report.

At about noon on Monday, the sheriff’s office received a 9-1-1 call of an interrupted residential burglary in the 40 block of Corona Avenue in Lagunitas. During the call, officials discovered the homeowner had detained one of the two burglars near the residence. The other escaped in a silver Ford sedan driven by a third subject, officials said.

The suspect who was detained by the homeowner was taken to a nearby hospital “based on a complaint of pain” and has since been arrested, officials said.

Approximately 15 minutes later, the Central Marin Police Authority received a call of a reckless driver in a Ford sedan at the intersection of San Francis Drake Boulevard and San Francisco Boulevard in San Anselmo, about eight miles away from the residential burglary, officials said.

Police then stopped the Ford in the area of Terrace Avenue in San Anselmo. During the traffic stop, one suspect fled away on foot and ran into a nearby neighborhood while the driver of the Ford was taken into custody, officials said.

Despite an area search with several police authorities being conducted, the third subject still remains at large. The suspect is described as a Black man in his late 20s or early 30s, authorities said. He was wearing a white T-shirt, dark-colored shorts and “possibly missing a shoe.”

Both the driver and the burglar who was detained by the homeowner have since been arrested and booked into the Marin County Jail for burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary with bail set at $200,000 each, officials said.

This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division at (415) 473-7265.
