Marian Rivera shares why she was at an ASEAN event

The actress says that she was invited by Cambodian PM Hun Sen due to the success of her past dramas in the country

13 Nov – Marian Rivera recently explained the reason why she attended the welcome dinner for ASEAN leaders as part of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit.

As reported on PEP, the actress, who appeared at the event in Pampanga alongside husband Dingdong Dantes, shared that she was actually invited by Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Sen due to the success of her dramas in the country.

Both Rivera's previous GMA dramas, "Marimar" and "Dyesebel" were big hits in Cambodia, while her other series, "Carmela" co-starring Alden Richards, is currently being aired in the country.

"I am not used to that kind of stuff, so I was embarrassed to go," she said, adding that there is no political reason for her being there.

She also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Hun Sen, not only for the invitation, but also for supporting her work.
