Will Marcus Smart’s role with the Boston Celtics change this season?

The Boston Celtics continued to emphasize ball movement and multiple layers of facilitating during this season’s training camp. This was a slight departure from last year’s emphasis on having the ball in star forwards Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown’s hands while veteran Marcus Smart moved from shooting guard to point guard.

Does that signal a role change for the Flower Mound native? Celtics interim head coach Joe Mazzulla told CLNS Media’s Bobby Manning at Boston’s practice on Wednesday that Smart told him what his role would be, and the two have had plenty of conversations on the topic and how he can best help the team playing on and off the ball.

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what Manning had to say about Smart’s role with the Celtics in the soon-to-start 2022-23 regular season.
