Marcia Clark Says A&E Docuseries Uncovered New Evidence in Casey Anthony Case

Marcia Clark says that while shooting her upcoming A&E docuseries “Marcia Clark Investigates the First 48,” she found some “pretty big” evidence that points to Casey Anthony’s guilt years after the woman accused of murdering her two-year-old daughter got off for the crime.

Best-known as the lead prosecutor in the O.J. Simpson trial, Clark told reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour on Sunday that she reexamined evidence laid out in a book written by Anthony’s lawyer, Jose Baez, and found a significant error — Baez wrote that one of the computers in Anthony’s home was used to search for “foolproof suffocation” at 1:51 p.m., not long before Caylee was killed. He theorized that Anthony’s father would have been in the house and did the search because he was “feeling suicidal.”

But Clark found otherwise.

“We reinvestigate,” Clark said. “The program that the defense attorney’s expert used was incorrect as to the time stamp. And that it wasn’t 1:51 when the search was done, it was 2:51 — at which point we know based on cellphone pings that George Anthony was at work, he was not at home. And that the only person who was at home when ‘foolproof suffocation’ was searched for was Casey Anthony. A pretty big deal.”

Clark added that her team discovered 31 days after Caylee went missing, someone erased the browser history that contained the search for “foolproof investigation,” when Casey Anthony was home alone for a few hours between police interrogations. “I’m guessing the prosecution would have loved to have this information,” Clark said. “That’s what we uncovered.”

An executive producer on the show noted the investigation into the browser history “happened within the first 48 hours,” a fact that “essentially proved the concept of the series.”

Each two-hour episode of the new docuseries will analyze the first 48 hours of notorious cases in order to explore new angles, unravel the mysteries behind the crimes, and attempt to discover the truth buried in the first 48.

“Marcia Clark Investigates the First 48” premieres on A&E this spring.
