March concert calendar: 10 of the best Chicago shows

CHICAGO — Hopefully you made it through some seasonal depression with a concert or two.

With March now here, outdoor shows are on the horizon but there’s still plenty of talent coming through this month.

3/4- 3/7 — Zach Bryan, United Center

Zach Bryan has been one of the biggest rising stars in country over the last few years. Following in his family’s footsteps, Bryan was in the Navy for eight years after high school and began uploading songs to YouTube.

The rest was history as Bryan took home his first Grammy Award last month. He plays four shows in a row at the United Center.

3/9 — Omni, Schubas

After being dormant for the last four to five years, Omni just released their fourth album “Souvenir” — which is their second for the iconic label Sup Pop.

3/9 — Cherry Glazerr, Lincoln Hall

Clementine Creevy, the mastermind behind Cherry Glazerr, hit her big break while still in high school. In a classic case of you never know who is listening, she uploaded some songs in 2012 onto Soundcloud and the rest was history.

Since then Cherry Glazerr has released four albums that will have you groovin’.

3/13 — The Smithereens, City Winery

The Smithereens gained a cult following in the late 80s and early 90s due to catchy pop songs like “A Girl Like You.”

Lead singer Pat DiNizio unfortunately passed away in 2017 but the band has continued on.

3/14 — Ministry and Gary Numan, Aragon

It may be one of the last times to see Chicago’s very own Ministry as lead singer Al Jourgensen said in a recent interview that they will stop after the release of one more final album.

Get in your car and blast Gary Numan on the way to the Aragon.

3/15 — The Kooks, Riviera Theatre

If you were into indie rock during one of the golden eras (2006-2010), no doubt you remember the impact of The Kooks and their debut album “Inside In/Inside Out.”

They’ll be playing the album in full with another U.K. band The Vaccines opening.

3/21 — Sleater-Kinney, Riviera Theatre

Comedy fans may know Carrie Brownstein from “Portlandia,” but she’s been one half of one of the most influential bands over the last 30 years — Sleater-Kinney.

Brownstein and Corin Tucker rock The Riv on the 21st.

3/21-3/24 — Mitski, Auditorium Theatre

After another dazzling new album, Mitski plays four shows in a row downtown at the Auditorium Theatre.

Mitski is known for emotionally vulnerable lyrics and has been outspoken about the music industry and her fans. She announced in 2019 she was quitting the music industry and returned in 2022.

3/23 — Offset, Aragon

Rising to fame with his group Migos, Offset released his second solo album last fall which immediately became a hit on the Billboard charts.

He’ll no doubt bring the energy to a large Aragon crowd.

3/28-3/30 — Bad Bunny, United Center

Ending the month with another mega star, Bad Bunny makes his Chicago return for the first time since playing Soldier Field a year and a half ago.

He plays three shows in a row to end the month at the United Center.
