March 23 election: 2 East Feliciana towns will pick new law enforcement, government leaders

EAST FELICIANA PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — East Feliciana Parish voters will cast ballots for the next Slaughter police chief and aldermen and Jackson’s new marshal and members of the board of trustees.

James M. “Jimmy” Norsworthy III, was elected the mayor of Jackson unopposed at qualifying. Janis Landry also won the Slaughter mayoral seat unopposed, as did Rebecca “Becky” Bellue in the village of Norwood.

All three aldermen in Norwood were also elected unopposed: “Ronnie” Jett, “Trey” Poole and Kimmi Sellers.

Across Louisiana, voters will participate in the Presidential Preference Primary and municipal and local primary elections. Early voting ran from Saturday, March 9, through Saturday, March 16.

On election day, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Municipal General Election in Louisiana will be on Saturday, April 27. If any local races go to a runoff, they’ll be determined on that date.
