Marc-Andre Fleury pulled in Game 3 after four-goal barrage

When the Ottawa Senators took at 1-0 lead just 48 seconds into Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final on Wednesday night, the hockey world asked in unison: ‘Can the Senators hold the Pittsburgh Penguins scoreless for the next 59 minutes and 12 seconds?’

But lest anyone believe the Senators can only play low-scoring affairs, they added a second goal at 10:34. Then a third goal at 12:28. And then a fourth goal at 12:52.

And then Marc-Andre Fleury was sent to the bench after just making four saves on nine shots, as Matt Murray saw his first action of the 2017 postseason.

And then the Senators got snarky:

Mike Hoffman got it going first, thanks to a fortunate bounce off the end boards:

Marc Methot, whom you may remember from some aggressive manicuring via Sidney Crosby, then scored as the Penguins defense looked lethargic:

Derek Brassard then made it 3-0 with a layup in front of the crease after a Clarke MacArthur shot:

Then Zach Smith scored on his own rebound:

In total, nine different Sens had points in the first period.

Fleury lasted just 12:52 in Game 3, before being replaced by Murray, whom he replaced in Game 1 of the first round after Murray injured himself in warm-ups.
