Maple Weekend returns for a sweet event
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Maple syrup producers across Western New York will open their facilities to the public for Maple Weekend, which takes place March 16-17 and 23-24.
The annual maple celebration allows people to secure their own syrup and sweet treats, as well as see firsthand how maple syrup is made and the traditions that go with it.
Maple Weekend has been around since 2000, providing a strong boost in business and popularity for maple producers. The Western New York Maple Producers Association estimates a $120 million economic impact for its maple products. New York is the second-largest maple-producing state in the U.S., with over 2.5 million taps, according to the WNYMPA.
Here is a list of maple-producing locations around WNY that you can check out this Maple Weekend. Most spots are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can view a full of map maple producers across New York State here.
