A significant number of Ukrainians will eventually be required to engage in warfare – a realization that, at present, eludes them, Taras Berezovets, a political strategist and an officer of the I. Bohun First Separate Brigade, told Radio NV on Aug. 27.

Commenting on a recent post by Ukrainian filmmaker and military figure Oleh Sentsov, in which Sentsov indicated that sooner or later everyone will have to fight, Berezovets pointed out that he doesn’t believe that many in Ukrainian society are ready.

“In the literal sense, the war will touch everyone. Many who don’t realize it now will have to fight,” he emphasized.

Individuals with combat experience between 2014 and 2022 are now scarce in the army; the vast majority have gained their combat experience since February 2022.

“We have young men of a delicate build who are credited with dozens of lives taken from the occupiers. They weren’t born for war either. That’s why preparation is necessary. At the very least, starting with enrolling in marksmanship courses and tactical medicine. Simply to save the lives of your loved ones and those who may find themselves beside you if, God forbid, a Russian rocket lands,” he stated.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy disclosed at an Aug. 23 press conference that the military had approached him with a plea for the acceleration of mobilization.
