Manufacturing defects force Sony to halt sales of the Xperia Tablet S a month after launch
Sony (SNE) has discovered manufacturing defects in its Xperia Tablet S and as a result has halted sales of the device a month after it launched, Reuters reports. According to a company spokesperson, gaps were discovered between the screen and the case on some of the tablets, which are supposed to be water-resistant. The Xperia Tablet S went on sale last month and so far has shipped around 100,000 units. Sony said that it will fix any tablet sold that experiences the defect and doesn’t expect the recall to have an impact on its earnings. The spokesperson noted that Sony has not yet decided when it will resume sales of the Xperia Tablet S.
