Manhunt underway for suspect after 2 people shot to death in Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. (PIX11) – A manhunt is underway for a suspect wanted in connection to two shooting deaths in Mount Vernon, according to the FBI.

Two people were shot around 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday at 137 South 5th Ave., Mount Vernon police said. A man died at the hospital, while another victim died at the scene, according to authorities.

Police have not released the identity of the victims.

FBI New York released an image of a man possibly known as Marcos, asking for information. He’s wanted for questioning in connection with a robbery and homicide in Mount Vernon, according to the agency.

There was a massive police presence in the Bronx near Fordham University on East Fordham Road and Hughes Avenue, PIX11 News has learned. It’s believed to be related to the shooting in Mount Vernon, as the NYPD, FBI and Westchester County police were all on the scene.

Officials have not confirmed if the police presence is connected to the Mount Vernon shooting. A public safety alert was sent Tuesday night by Fordham University, saying law enforcement pursued a suspect who crashed their vehicle on a dead end and fled toward Fordham Road.

PIX11 News reached out to officials to confirm the details of the police operation and the significance of a van that was seen surrounded by police.

The safety alert said there was no threat to the university.
