Manhattan road closure expected to last until August

MANHATTAN (KSNT) – Several roads will be closed to vehicular and pedestrians until mid-August while crews work on the North Campus Corridor project.

Starting this week, the intersection of Denison Avenue and Kimball Avenue will be closed in all four directions until mid-August. The closure goes west of Denison Avenue to Tex Winter Drive/Grain Science Way and north on Denison Avenue to the back entrance into the Edge District/K-State Foundation complex, according to the City of Manhattan. Once this intersection reopens, it will signal the completion of the North Campus Corridor project.

Another closure will be on Denison Avenue from the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) main entrance north to Kimball and from NBAF’s freight entrance west to Denison Avenue. Only traffic heading to NBAF and Meadowlark Hills can stay on Kimball Avenue and only traffic heading to NBAF and Meadowlark Hills can stay on Kimball from North Manhattan Avenue. Other traffic on Kimball will be detoured south, according to the city.

A detour for Denison Avenue will take motorists south on College Avenue from Marlatt Avenue, then east on Claflin Road before returning to Denison Avenue.

A detour for Kimball Avenue from Tuttle Creek Boulevard will be south on North Manhattan Avenue then west on Claflin Road then north on College Avenue and back onto Kimball Avenue heading west.
