At the conclusion of her first-round loss at Wimbledon against Italian Francesca Schiavone on Monday, Mandy Minella revealed to the world the exciting news that she is four and a half months pregnant.

The No. 82 player in the world lost the match 6-1, 6-1, but her run at Wimbledon is not over. She will also be competing in doubles with her partner Anastasija Sevastova, and the duo will play Ipek Soylu and Varatchaya Wongteanchai on Thursday.

“Wimbledon is my last tournament this season,” Minella told the Luxemburger Wort newspaper. “I want to compete again at Wimbledon in 2018 – and bring the baby buggy.”

During her time away from the game, Minella will apply for a protected ranking in order to allow her to return to the circuit without her position dropping.

Minella’s news comes on the heels of Serena Williams posting a video on her Instagram showing her practicing while seven months pregnant.

Wimbledon got me like: Easy standing drills this morning. Go easy.

Williams was unable to compete in this year’s Wimbledon due to the stage of her pregnancy. That said, the 23-time major champion amazingly captured the Australian Open title in January while approximately two months pregnant.

Kudos to these women!
