Mandatory Evacuations Issued in California's Merced County Amid Severe Flooding

Officials in Merced County, in central California, issued mandatory evacuation orders to the entire town of Planada after torrential rain flooded the area, local media reported.

Footage captured by Raul Hidalgo shows vehicles partially submerged in floodwaters on Park Street on Monday night.

The Merced County Sheriff’s Office said on Tuesday that deputies were going “door to door” to Planada residents to help them evacuate their homes as soon as possible. Credit: Raul Hidalgo via Storyful
