Man wounded in exchange of gunfire jailed in Georgetown County, deputies say

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A man is in custody after being treated for gunshot wounds following an exchange of gunfire early Friday morning in the Plantersville community, authorities said.

Savion Grimmage of Jackson Village Road was arrested after he was treated at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital, according to Sheriff Carter Weaver’s office. He is being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center pending charges against him.

Investigators said Grimmage was hit in the hand and back by shotgun fire while riding away from the scene of a confrontation on Exodus Drive. It happened shortly after 12:30 a.m.

Deputies found evidence of gunshots fired into a house and vehicle and said a resident returned fire, hitting Grimmage, whose wounds were not believed to be life-threatening.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information should call 843-546-5102.
