Man wielding knife at ex-girlfriend killed in Rowan County motorcycle chase: Sheriff

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A man who was wielding a knife at his ex-girlfriend is now dead after a chase with authorities ended in him crashing his motorcycle, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday.

Deputies responded to calls around 10:25 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, at a Circle K on North Main Street regarding a man with a knife chasing people in the parking lot.

While nobody was located upon arrival at the scene, deputies stated that they were able to identify Jeremy Roush as the suspect. An initial investigation revealed Roush was in an argument with his ex-girlfriend and pulled a knife on another man who was trying to intervene. When she attempted to flee the scene, he followed her on his motorcycle.

Deputies located Roush on his motorcycle and a pursuit ensued until Roush lost control and ran off the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two knives were found at the scene of the crash, the sheriff’s office said.

This remains an active investigation.
